ISDSI is a community that extends beyond the Institute in Chiang Mai and the villages throughout Thailand. We rely on a network of friends, faculty and alumni to help identify and recruit students for ISDSI semesters. This page is for folks who are interested in talking about ISDSI, our vision for community based experiential education, and helping connect the right students to our programs. The demands and focus of a semester at ISDSI are not for everyone, and the more students know about the program before they apply the better.

Here are several posters in various resolutions that you can download and print out. We can also send them to you if you’d like a full set. The posters are high resolution, and the larger ones are suitable for either high resolution printing or large banners (e.g. vinyl for a study abroad fair, etc.)
Click on the “Large” to download the large version (about 53 MB .tif file), and “Small” to download the smaller version (about 8-18 MB .jpg file).

ISDSI Presentation

We’ve prepared a presentation about ISDSI for use in a classroom setting or at an informational meeting. It is available in PDF format as well as a Mac OS Keynote presentation. If you need to use PowerPoint, you can import the PDF, or (better) just use the PDF directly.
The Keynote file is here: http://www.isdsi.org/docs/ISDSI_Keynote.zip. The file is about 17.5 MB.
The PDF is here: http://www.isdsi.org/docs/ISDSI_Keynote.pdf. The file is about 20.5 MB.
Directions about how to do the presentation is here: http://www.isdsi.org/docs/presentation_guidelines.pdf. The file is about 3 MB.
Videos
We have some great videos up, of both the fall and spring semester. Go the the videos page, and download the videos — this will avoid the video pausing or stuttering half way through playback if your Internet connection is slow or gets interrupted.
You should also go to the ISDSI YouTube site http://www.youtube.com/user/isdsiTHAILAND.
You can also go to the ISDSI Vimeo site http://vimeo.com/isdsi/.
Handouts
When you talk with faculty, students, and others, it is great to leave something with them. We’ve prepared a short summary handout here:
http://www.isdsi.org/docs/handout.pdf
You may also consider printing out the syllabus for courses.
Who goes to ISDSI?
A common question is which colleges and universities send students to ISDSI. For a quick summary chart and a list of schools, jump to our Sending Schools page.
How applying to ISDSI works
Some of the most common questions that students applying to the program ask are about how the application process works. This necessarily is different for each school. If you can find out in advance from the study abroad office, that will make it easier to explain what they need to do. Here are some general guidelines about how it works:
- Students who are interested in ISDSI should spend some time on the website reading about the courses, looking at photos and/or video, our blog, and reading through the Apply page to make sure they understand the requirements for the program.
- Once students have learned about the program, they should send an email to apply@isdsi.org.
- Students should ALSO be talking with their study abroad office and/or academic adviser to makes sure all their paperwork, deadlines, financial aid, etc. is in order.
- Once we’ve processed the application, we’ll send out letters of acceptance to students.
- IMPORTANT: Even after the deadline, students should contact apply@isdsi.org if they are interested. We will accept students on a space-available basis after the deadline.
