Wilderness First Responder

With the Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS

ISDSI is committed to providing the highest standard of care for our students and participants. As a part of this commitment all of our courses include instructors trained as Wilderness First Responders–the same requirements for the National Outdoor Leadership School and Outward Bound instructors, and recognized as the gold standard for leaders in the wilderness, remote locations and in developing countries. While this level of training is rare in study-abroad programs, we hope that our leadership and example will encourage other programs and leaders to do the same.

In addition to training our own instructors, ISDSI sponsors an open-enrollment WFR course every two years as a service to the wider community in Thailand and SE Asia.

Video of the 2009 WFR Course!

A great course, with outstanding instructors and participants. We’ve worked with WMI for years, and are always impressed with their professionalism, creativity, and ability to make a challenging course fun–which helps us remember the incredible amount of information packed into 10 intense days (and some nights) of instruction. This video tries to capture that spirit (and includes songs with the proper cadence for CPR!).
