Checklist for applying
- Talk with your study abroad advisor about applying and any specific requirements for your school.
- Request a transcript be sent to ISDSI.
- Download the “Reference Letter” for people recommending you. Request two (2) letters of recommendation from a professor/coach/administrator. The guidelines for the reference letter can be found here: Faculty reference letter.
- Fill out the application, save it, and email it to admissions@isdsi.org.
- Send a passport sized photo to admissions@isdsi.org. Students should be photographed wearing a white shirt with a collar.

Here are a list of documents you should download and read as you are preparing for an ISDSI semester:
- The Theory and Practice of Experiential Learning and Sustainability, an article on our approach to expedition based experiential learning.
- Equipment and Clothing Requirements, a list of required gear and expedition clothing for an ISDSI semester.
- Student Predeparture Handbook, the handbook for the ISDSI semester detailing requirements, expectations and guidelines for a successful semester. This is required reading for all students.
We also recommend that you read up on each course offered during the semester you are applying for, and download the course syllabus. The course syllabus will change each semester, but by reading through it you will have a better idea of the academic demands of the program.
